When Katie and Brendin asked if I would be interested in meeting them in Jasper for their engagement session, I could not contain my excitement. It was a yes without a doubt for me! We were able to arrange a weekend in late September. They left from Edmonton, while I drove down from Grande Prairie.
I enjoyed the most picturesque road trip. I am so happy it came together like it did. It ended up being the perfect weekend, all the trees had turned colour to their magical fall hues, and the leaves were still holding on and hadn’t yet fallen. It was magnificent.. and I do not use that word often, so you know I mean it!
I originally met Katie and Brendin at Medicine Lake, and although beautiful.. none of us had realized that a forest fire had gone through there, and with the rainy day we were having, it just felt really somber. So, we did what any adventurous sprits would do, and we continued up the road to Maligne Lake. I had never been there before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.. I just knew if we kept going, we would reach it lol!
So worth the gamble. So so so worth it. I will admit, I was worried as we pulled into the parking lot and I saw the amount of vehicles there. I was picturing Lake Louise type crowds. But after we parked and I found them in the parking lot, we went down to the lake.. and it truly felt like we were the only ones there. Magnificent.
We took our time with this session, getting to know each other and chatting about their wedding, and after spending the afternoon with these two.. I must say, I can hardly wait to photograph their wedding next fall. They are SO good together. Every bend along the lake shore took us somewhere even more amazing, so many incredible spots, with the most amazing backdrop. Well, I will let you see for yourselves how amazing it was.
Before you start scrolling, yes yes and even more yessss to anyone who wants to meet up for an afternoon in the mountains! It is sooo worth it.
